Since the early 1500's ships have been sailing in the waters off the coast of Massachusetts in search of food, resources and wealth. Within that time thousands of ships have been lost at sea. Now it is the responsibility of the people to preserve these sites that provide archaeologist with resources to study and learn more about the history of Massachusetts.

Visit the WrecksThere are over 3500 wrecks sites in Massachusetts state waters, and they are legally protected, requiring permits to study/dive them.
About 40 of these sites have been designated as recreational sites, and NO permitting is required. Safety should always be used when diving and respect for the wreckage is of the utmost importance.
