Baselines and Datum PointsAfter a mudmap, maritime archaeologists need more detail to fully represent the site.
So they set up datum points, which can be any number of points past one. These points are wooden or metal stakes that can be used for reference. Between two of these points a baseline is created, which is a tape measure on which all further measurements are based. |
